canada looking for job

“Artificial intelligence” was an undebatable buzzword in 2023. However, as the year 2024 arrived, many business leaders were still scratching their heads about how to effectively implement the powerful tool in their routine operations

Employees and job seekers, however, are way ahead of them.

A tech-savvy workforce has become all the more desirable to C-suite leaders who are struggling to capitalize on AI’s capabilities. Actually, they’re happy to pay more for workers who are already skilled in AI, giving those applicants added power in their job search. Moreover, generative AI has shown itself to be a fast and reliable way to enhance applications, resumes, and cover letters.

This blog post tries to catch up on the many ways AI is a blessing for the workforce from outside Canada looking for job opportunities in Canada — and fulfilling their dreams of working in a place where they can develop and grow.

Job creation

Ninety-two percent of employees agree that for staying competitive their companies will need to shift to an AI-first approach this year, reveals a recent research from IT solution provider Avanade. But instead of AI replacing jobs, 64% of business and IT leaders reckon that AI will maintain or even increase the number of human roles in their organization in 2024. Most expect the headcount to rise by up to 9%.

“This doesn’t imply only job replacement, it also indicates task replacement,” says Erik Barnett, North American digital healthcare and life sciences lead for Avanade. “There’s been ongoing conversation around the idea of replacing people’s jobs, when the data proves and supports that businesses still need people, just in different ways.”

Higher pay for tech skills

The pay gap between tech jobs and other occupations has widened by 36% within a year, according to a recent report from tech insights platform BizReport. AI-related jobs offer 77.53% higher salaries than non-ai-related occupations since most employers work neck and neck with the proliferation of AI in the workplace.

“This data is suggesting an increasing recognition of the value of AI skills in the job market,” says Young Pham, a project manager for BizReport. “The widened pay gap between tech and non-tech roles also underlines the influence of AI across industries; and indicates that the salary conversation in general will revolve around the importance of AI expertise.”

Better cover letters

The American Staffing Association states, that nearly 40% of job seekers outside Canada looking for jobs have used AI tools to apply for positions. Plus, with AI capabilities growing steadily, the number of people utilizing it will increase. However, job seekers could still be nervous about integrating AI into their search as the technology seems confusing; or because they worry hiring managers can tell. The gist: Those worries won’t stop people from using AI, in the words of Keith Spencer, career expert at job search platform Flexjobs.

Conclusion

These are some of the many ways AI will help land you a high-paying job in Canada.
